Čiurlioniada: Piano Music Evening | Jinhyung Park and Simonas Poška
BILIETAI
Two promising pianists of the younger generation – laureates of the 9th International M. K. Čiurlionis Piano Competition – will meet on the stage of Vilnius Town Hall: first prize winner Jinhyung Park (South Korea) and second prize winner Simonas Poška (Lithuania).
This evening of piano music is one of the festive events marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. The programme will feature various piano opuses by Čiurlionis, reflecting his unique musical world. The concert will also be enriched by the works of other great composers such as F. Liszt, O. Messiaen, F. Chopin. As Lithuania celebrates the jubilee of M. K. Čiurlionis, the world is also celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Maurice Ravel, and this composer's delicate piano passages will also be included in the evening's programme.
This event is part of the concert series "Čiurlioniada. Evenings of Piano and Organ Music". On this special occasion, the Centre for International Cultural Projects Lithuania has invited to the capital of Lithuania the laureates, jury members, and guests of the International M. K. Čiurlionis Organists and Pianists Competition. In addition to the composer's own works for organ and piano, the programmes will also include new works inspired by Čiurlionis' pieces, works that have been developed from fragments or themes of Čiurlionis' oeuvre, improvisations, newly prepared and previously composed arrangements, and works by his contemporaries.
Project is partly sponsored by: Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, Lithuanian Council for Culture, Vilnius City Municipality.
