"The connection between Nordic and Baltic music: Challenges turn into mastery"
In 2026, a new international project will be launched for music event organizers and young performers in the Nordic and Baltic countries.
The new project goal is to bring together partners in the region, promote international mobility, and improve qualifications. The project will include training cycles in Lithuania, Finland, and Norway on career management, entrepreneurship, and emotional health, as well as a series of concerts in Vilnius, Trondheim, and Juveskiulė showcasing the work of Lithuanian composers and performances by young talents.
International seminars will be organized for event organizers to discuss gender equality, transparency, jury working models, and career opportunities for laureates. The project is based on the values of openness, diversity, equality, internationality, sustainability, and professionalism.
The initiators are the International Cultural Projects Center (LT), The Jyväskylä Music Competitions (FI), and The Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition and Academy (NO). These organizations, which have been working separately for many years in the field of promoting young performers, are now joining forces to create new opportunities and strengthen cultural cooperation in the region.
The project will include:
Masterclasses, qualification improvement, and education. Young musicians need continuous professional development, so the project offers a series of seminars, lectures, and discussions dedicated to the knowledge and skills needed to start a career. On March 21-24, 2026, the LMTA will host training sessions on career management, entrepreneurship, public speaking, overcoming stage fright, and performer health. Discussions will be held after each day. The training is open to all students, and participants from abroad are also expected to attend. The cycle will be repeated in Finland and Norway with funding from partners.
Dissemination of creativity and mobility. The project will present a series of concerts in three cities: On March 20, 2026, the winners of the Jyväskylä and Trondheim competitions will perform in Vilnius (Energy and Technology Museum); On September 20 in Trondheim and September 29 in Juveskiulė, the winners of the Stasys Vainiūnas competition will perform. The programs will feature works by Vainiūnas and other Lithuanian composers.
Networking and professional development. Seminars for music competition organizers will be held in Lithuania, Norway, and Finland. Topics: gender equality, transparency standards, stress reduction, jury models, career development for winners. Discussions will be moderated by international experts.
Sustainable solutions. The project promotes respect for the environment. In cooperation with IT companies, the ARTISTdatabase platform (registration, contracts, communication) is being developed. A new app for electronic brochures and event materials will be created, allowing for the elimination of paper publications and the transition to convenient digital solutions.
The project brings together partners from the Nordic and Baltic countries, provides opportunities for young performers, and promotes sustainable international cultural dissemination.
